George (Hairbrush) Tjungurrayi was born in the remote desert area of Kiwirrkura, Western Australia in 1947 and began painting in 1976 whilst living in West Camp, Papunya, together with his older brother Willy Tjungurrayi, also a well known Aboriginal artist.
George’s paintings often depict the Tingari dreaming cycle and sacred sites from his ancestral land. George was voted “The most collectable artist” by Australian Art Collector magazine.
