Born at Yuendumu in the early 50's, Eunice
is Luritja Warlpiri, and is the sister of Pansy and Alice
Napangardi, and Rene Robinson Napangardi with whom she shares many
of the Dreamings they paint.
Eunice was an apprentice to her late husband, Kaapa
Tjampitjimpa, and helped him for several years in the early 80s.
Gaining experience and technique, she emerged in the late 80s as
an artist in her own right becoming one of the central desert's
leading Aboriginal artists. Kaapa was one of the first artists to
paint in Papunya and was most likely responsible for the
central desert painting movement as we see it today.
Eunice's Bush Banana paintings are world
renown.
The Alice Springs Airport commissioned a large
Eunice Napangardi painting for its inaugural opening in December
1991. In 1992, Eunice's work was included in Modern ArtAncient
Icon, a travelling exhibition, starting in Washington DC, sponsored
by The World Bank.
Her work is included in the Stockman's Hall of
Fame and featured in the Tjukurrpa Exhibition at the Blaxland
Gallery in 1989.
Eunice has also exhibited at the Australian Embassy,
Washington DC (1999), United Nations Building, New York City (199),
and with Pansy Napangardi in Brisbane.
Eunice is currently living in Alice Springs, with
her adopted son, Corey.
